Client:

 

Our client a leading multinational Financial Company requires Contract VB6  Developer for 6 months role based in South Dublin, Ireland 

You be required to be onsite 2-3 days per week.

 

Role:

 

You will join the Calculation Systems team in the IT Department. Work will primarily relate to project and production support activities on a range of Point of Sale and In Force Calculation Projections systems.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

 

·         Document, test, and develop software as required to deliver solutions which meet business requirements

·         Prepare and execute Unit Test plans and document results.

·         Prepare and execute System and Integration Test plans and document results.

•    Troubleshoot program code, related objects, and documentation in order to resolve application issues.

·         Quality check program code, related objects, and documentation.

·         Respond to Production Support issues.

·         Represent the team at project meetings and calls.

·         Contribute to the delivery of assigned IT projects in own area of expertise for specific lines of business, collaborating with IT colleagues from across the wider function to agree an approach for project management.

·         Work closely with internal IT, Actuarial and Business users and third party resources.

·         Technical Support throughout System Test and UAT.

·         Conduct preliminary estimates for the level of effort of new/change to application functionality.

 

 

Experience:

 

·         Minimum Requirements: 5 years programming experience in VB6, SQL, MS Access, XML;

·         Must have experience in configuring web services using IIS

·         Experience in C, C# and IBM MQ and Citrix an advantage

·         Previous experience in life assurance/financial industry preferred.

·         Previous experience in re-architecting and upgrading of legacy systems an advantage.

·         Previous experience working on Illustrations/Projections or other Calculation based systems a distinct advantage

·         Excellent debugging and problem solving skills

·         A self starter who is willing to work through legacy applications with a view to problem diagnosis, solving and providing options for redesign and upgrade.

·         Strong team player

·         Possesses the ability and willingness to engage and communicate with third parties for troubleshooting and code deployment

·         Strong stakeholder and supplier management skills

·         Must be flexible, proactive and focused in approach to work
