Our client is a Irish media technology company.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Working with our editorial team to build and improve the tools and features that bring breaking new and important stories in a fast and reliable way.
  • Working with our design team to bring innovative ways for our audience to interact with quality information and to have input into what news stories matter to them
  • Working with our business team to provide open access to valuable journalism by supporting our advertising products, developing our sports membership integrations and innovative investigative journalism crowdfunding

 

Requirements

  • You’re fluent in PHP, Javascript and all the components needed for building modern scalable, web applications.
  • You’re familiar with modern PHP development and practices (e.g Composer, PSRs, etc)
  • You have developed PHP applications that have proven themselves at scale.
  • You have experience working with legacy code, improving extant features and introducing new functionality without discarding the existing behaviour that is sometimes obscured
  • Experience using some of Laravel, WordPress and components from Symfony, the PHP League, etc.
  • An understanding of automated testing, and experience of tools such as PHPUnit.
  • You’ve a good feeling for product design and usability.
  • You are a self-starter with an analytical mindset who can manage their own time and workload
  • You have excellent communication skills
  • You are passionate about clean code and refactoring code to be more expressive fills you with joy
